Optimum runway edge lights (REL) or runway centre line lights (RCLL) require that obstruction lights are absolutely flicker-free and dimmable. Most importantly, they must be weatherproof (all-weather flight operation level CAT II and III) vibration-resistant lamps that can withstand the vibrations during take-off and landing and have a uniform and long light output.
